practice-makes-perfect

Changing and developing effective skills and behaviours

You have heard the phrase ‘practise makes perfect’. At SmithCarey we have a different view to other providers. If you are practising the wrong thing you will never be perfect, that’s why a robust training needs analysis has to take place.

Our mantra is ‘Practise makes Permanent’ and using our pdp technology we set out from day one to make sure that we deliver best in class training and support. This includes areas such as; Building a programme approach; Conducting a thorough competency based needs analysis using our PDP technology; Getting the Line manager and right people involved; Identifying the relevant subject matter and create a personalised programme approach; Build a pre, during a post programme toolset and utilise technology that helps embed the skills and ‘make it stick!’

Having been on the receiving end of ‘one off’ ineffective and unsupported training, our approach is simple. Embed and practise the new skills and behaviour so that ’Practise make Permanent’!

fact-based-selling

Our approach, programme design and content continue to adapt, grow and develop around relevant key market place insights and research. This fact and research based approach allows us to build impactful and relevant programmes, using the latest enabling technology and tools.

Some of our key insights and tools that help stimulate this approach include:

  • The Rackham Studies
  • S.P.I.N Huthwaite Organisation
  • Organisational Design & Development Inc.
  • Illingworth Partnership Research – ‘what makes the best - the best'
  • The Harvard Studies
  • IGD insight
  • SmithCarey PDP technology – competencies

Read more about our research into what we identified when we researched over 50 face to face selling and negotiation situations in Leading FMCG organisations and found ‘What makes the best the best’ when it comes to Commercial selling and negotiation.

both-sides-of-the-fence

In order to bring the training and approach alive we look at things from ‘Both sides of the fence.

Be it through our experienced buyers, our Legal trainer or simply across different channels and sectors commercially. This gives us the opportunity to bring to life the issues and expertise in order to practise the skills and behaviours in a safe but true to life and challenging environment. Allowing us to see it from ‘Both sides of the fence’

Our Philosophy

Structured client review process
Using the Kaizen review process, regular reviews are held with key stakeholders to help review progress against the action plans of the teams and to help review programme content and feedback.
Web and E-learning
Our web based 'MiDevelopment' enables client access to materials and web based E-learning, helping support and embed the programme content and learning cycle.
Coaching
As well as more formal training for coaches we offer one on one coaching and support as part of the programme approach. This helps embed behaviour change and support the process of skills and knowledge being transferred back to workplace.
Pre and post programme management support
Full venue and delegate management support to ensure smooth logistical and operational management.
Best in class models
Our programmes and courses are based around specifically developed 'best in class' models (e.g. our commercial selling model) which focus on both technical and behavioural competencies.
Personalised approach
Every programme is personalised and focussed around your business, individual, personal and cultural needs.
Programmes not events
We run programmes not just 'one off events' and our courses are designed around industry benchmarked competencies and training needs.
