THE COMPANY

Stunning career development opportunity to join a well-invested, fifth generation privately family owned European food group, who specialise in the supply of high quality, premium food ingredients globally. The UK division holds a major category share within the industrial food sector and has achieved a high level of profitable sales growth and now have an ambitious strategic growth objective to almost double sales over the next 5 years.

As part of their investment for growth, the UK MD is looking to appoint an outstanding and highly capable Commercial Manager who will initially lead a small team, although this would be expected to develop over time. The individual would be expected to have the capacity to absorb greater responsibilities and develop into a more senior commercial leadership role.

THE ROLE

To lead a small team with a hands-on, customer-facing approach in managing both an existing range of major industrial food manufacturing accounts, as well as leading the ‘hunt’ to achieve further-targeted, new industrial and foodservice business through taking a strategic, solutions-based selling approach. Working cross-functionally with both UK and European head office colleagues, you will take the commercial lead to develop new food ingredient-based solutions that meet the needs of targeted customers, and so ensuring further growth in profitable sales volumes.

You will also work closely with the MD giving input on the shaping and developing of trading strategies focused on growing the business towards achieving the 5 year business plan.

THE CANDIDATE

Having strongly grown your sales management career you are proud of your commercial business growth achievements (which we want to hear about!) and have built a strong knowledge with an effective contact base of key stakeholders in the major food manufacturers or end-user foodservice accounts.

Currently working at Senior National Account Manager or Controller level, you have acquired highly capable customer planning, presentation and influencing skills, together with a real focus on commercial negotiation and building effective customer relationships, which collectively provide you with a powerful package towards achieving your commercial business goals.

A key part of our client’s success in the UK is the close-knit collaborative working style of the small team, so it is important that as the successful candidate you can naturally embrace this supportive ‘together’ and motivated working style, to ensure you quickly become a key part of their successful customer-focused team. The role can be home-based with 2 days per week attendance required at their Norfolk-based head office.
