The Company

Fast growing and dynamic e550m FMCG European group with broad range of non-food and food-based products focused on consumers’ everyday household usage needs through a range of high-quality, well-known brands and retailer own-label products.

The business has achieved substantial sales growth success over the past 5 years through both M&A and organic growth with a strong strategic vision for further growth over the next 5 years.

The UK market operates with a number of business divisions with combined sales of over €100m and are now looking to appoint an outstanding and dynamic Commercial Director for their Northwest based Health & Beauty and Personal Care division.

The Job

Reporting to the Managing Director this role will sit on the senior leadership team and take responsibility for the sales and marketing activities with a key focus of leading and inspiring the talented teams to drive targeted profitable sales growth with both existing customers and targeted new business.

You will shape marketing strategies to develop new products both from external sourcing and intergroup brands plus all associated brand marketing activities, all focused on consumer needs and to help drive rates of sale at point of purchase.

Additionally, you will shape and lead the future sales strategy management process including the integration of planned new business through grocery retail, high street retail discounters and major pharmacy accounts to achieve targeted sales growth performance.

Further responsibilities will include team resourcing, budgetary control, coaching & leadership, commercial P&L management as well as playing a major part of the SLT towards further growing this exciting and high potential business.

About You

Having developed your FMCG commercial career with brands or brands and retail own label including 7-10 years’ experience in a team leadership position you are ready for your next career challenge as a Commercial Director.

You have a detailed knowledge of the UK grocery trade including experience of managing teams in the major retail grocery and high street discounter accounts as well as their trading strategies, plus you have shaped effective trading strategies that delivered profitable sales growth – we would love to hear about your proudest success stories!

Although not essential for this appointment, it would be beneficial to have gained both sales and direct brand marketing management experience through your career journey. Clearly you will have strong senior-level customer management experience together with modern category management, JBP negotiation and team leadership skills which together with your broad commercial acumen, managing complexity and strategic planning skills, have all contributed to your proudest achievements!

Ideally blue-chip trained, you also have experience and enjoy working in smaller/medium sized UK-based FMCG companies where a strong hands-on style is the order of the day. You are highly personable, fun to be around, highly influential with all human beings and above all, are hardworking. You naturally work to high standards with the determination and ambition to achieve both your business and future personal career goals.
