THE COMPANY
A $500m global confectionery branded business which continues to experience unprecedented growth across both UK and international markets, driven by exceptional consumer purchasing, fuelling ever-increasing rates-of-sale through high street retail and grocery retail multiple accounts.
They have a highly collaborative Sales & Marketing team that works with pace, enthusiasm and a clear, well-invested brand-led marketing strategy focused on consumer insight-led, product innovative, effective brand communications and driving targeted trade listings, distribution and promotional activities. Their brands and target consumers echo a strong sense of fun and energy, which sets the cultural tone across this supportive yet driven business.
As part of their investment for growth in key European markets, my client wishes to appoint a dynamic highly experienced commercially minded Senior Business Development Manager with a consummate knowledge of the Spanish grocery market.
ABOUT THE JOB
This new position will assume full management control of a selection of core Southern European markets although your core focus will be driving business strategy in the Spanish market.
With a BDM report managing current day to day trading activities through two long term distribution partners, this role will involve completing a detailed review of the Spanish confectionery category and route to market dynamics including all key trade channels. Following the completion of this analysis, you will create and shape a future trading strategy blueprint that will best support brand growth either on a direct supply or via appropriate distributor partners all focused on growing brand distribution and profitable sales growth.
Additionally, you will manage the P&L performance plus an in-market BDM who manages all trading activities within Spain, Portugal, Italian and French markets through a network of distributors.
ABOUT YOU
This is an exciting new role that requires a key balance of Spanish grocery market knowledge coupled with c5 years+ experience as a Key Account Manager managing the leading grocery retail multiples coupled with the commercial ability to shape effective trading strategies suitable for growing added value brands.
Your sales and account management career will have been shaped with impulse confectionery/food or drinks branded products and must include working with medium or small sized manufacturers or Spanish market distributors.

You are highly personable, driven, with a balance of commercial intelligence and pragmatic hands-on style focused on making things happen and growing profitable sales.
You love to work hard yet have some fun and embrace working as part of a multi-cultural highly-motivated international sales and marketing team.
My client’s international office is based in London where you will be required to attend c4 times per year and a prerequisite of this role will be a command of the English language with Italian or French being a distinct advantage.
